"Myths  and Legends of the Sioux," by Mrs. Marie L. McLaughlin. Published by the Bismarck Tribune, Bismarck, ND, 1916. Illustrated. 1st edition. Scarce. Original gray hardcover in good- condition. Cover has shelfwear and finger soiling. Front top corner frayed with exposed coverboard. Additional corners have wear. Water stain on front cover near bottom spine. Spine is sun-darkened with soiling. Top and bottom of spine are frayed. Back, top gutter has split along top 3 inches and then occasionally along bottom gutter, but holding. Inside front free cover has tape residue along binding. Cover split but holding. Top layer of paper has tearing on inside front cover. Staingin on front free end page. Back cover split but holding to spine. Staining along spine on inside back cover. Blue stamp on last text page, "St. Joseph's College." Frontispiece photograph of the author has light soiling/fading. Text pages have occasional finger soiling. Illustrated with multiple black and white illustrations. These are the stories the author learned growing up among the Sioux. They include, "The Pet Rabbit," "The Forgotten Ear of Corn," The Brave adn the Medicine Woman," "The Bound Children,"  and many others. The stories are illustrated with black and white drawings. 1st edition. Scarce. Native American Anthropology. Literature.
